Marriage
St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church
Marriage Preparation Class
Diocesan policy requires that preparation for the Sacrament of marriage begin at least six months prior to the wedding. You must be a registered member of this parish (or your parents/guardians must be registered members of the parish) at least three months prior to beginning preparations. If you live outside the parish boundaries, please contact the parish within which you live for preparation. Please contact the parish office to register and to set up an interview with a priest and for an appointment to attend the marriage preparation class. Topics include: the theology of Marriage, the liturgical guidelines, suggestions and aids in the planning of the wedding ceremony and various programs that make up the preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage.
All individuals (Catholic, non-Catholic, unbaptized) who have been previously married and divorced and who wish to marry in the Catholic Church, need to have their previous marriage(s) declared invalid through the annulment process by the Diocesan Tribunal before marrying again. Some people who have no marriage plans petition for a declaration of invalidity as a way of healing and closure. Annulments are to be completed before attending the marriage preparation class. For more information see Annulment.
Sponsor Couples
Sponsor couples are part of the Engaged Couples Marriage Preparation program. These married couples are parishioners who have accepted the call to help engaged couples in their journey towards marriage. To be considered for the ministry of Sponsor Couple, you must be married at least five years and have attended a Marriage Encounter Weekend program. Interested couples need not be both Catholics. Please contact the parish office to volunteer.
