The Children's Catechumenate Team:
It is the community of believers that pass on the traditions of the Church. Therefore, it is the task of the entire parish to be involved in the initiation process.
The ministries of the Catechumenate Team at St. Catherine are:
Hospitality: People to help R.C.I.A. families feel at home and welcomed. Responsibilities include: keeping track of birthdays, parties, food as needed, name tags, and taking pictures of events.
Liturgy Planning and Prayer: Help expose the children to various forms of prayer.
Retreats: Help plan and execute a retreat in February for the 6th to 9th graders to prepare them for the Rite of Election.
Family Nights: Help prepare one hour sessions, based on a theme of the liturgical year or the stage of the R.C.I.A. journey, suitable for family interaction. Family nights take place once a month.
Service Projects: Identify opportunities for involvement in the community (such as Walk for Life, Autumnfest, Nursing Home visits, etc.)
Break Open the Word Coordinator: An individual to organize people to creatively present Scripture to the children. Groups such as CLW ministers, Youth Bible Study Group, and Adult small faith sharing groups, are encouraged to participate.
Catechists: Those who will teach and share their faith with families in the Pre-Catechumenate, and with children, ages 8 to 15, in the Catechumentate.
